Encinitas Elks & the Annual 3-day Community Hootenanny on July 9-11

In association with the North County Parkinsons Support Group, Elks Lodge #2243 is hosting a 3-day family barbecue event. There will be over 60 hours of events, entertainment, and good old-fashioned family fun. Free admission!!!
The event will include three days of music from every genre. A steak & fry, all-you-can-eat pasta dinner, and open pit bbq will be served on different days, each for a very low cost. Other attractions are a silent auction, a variety show, kids’ games, face painting, jumpy house, raffle drawings, ice cream, hot dogs, a fire truck, and more!

About the Elks
The Elks Organization was founded in 1886 and is now one of the largest charitable organizations in the nation. California lodges alone donate over 3 million dollars each year to help disabled children. The Elks lodges, nationwide, are mandated to participate in programs that benefit kids and veterans. Locally, the Elks lodge has shipped over 10,000 packages to Iraq, they have provided lunches for returning Marines and Sailors who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, they participate in VA Hospital visitations, they distribute lunches every Friday for the homeless, they spearhead the Purple Pig program which provides therapy services to needy rural children, they sponsor youth basketball/baseball and drug free dances, and they give away Christmas baskets to the military and disavantaged, to name a few.

While enjoying and participating in the show, dinner will be provided by Chick-fil-A during each evening performance. At intermission the kids will compete for prizes at bubble blowing and hula-hoop contests while you “50′s” style dancers can show your stuff ‘boppin’ to you favorite jukebox tunes. The Encinitas Chamber of Commerce had a fun and informative Sundowner in spite of the April showers.
The event was hosted by the Elks Lodge in Cardiff.
Marshall Weinreb, Executive Director ECC introduced the Exalted Ruler of the Lodge, Bill Vance, who gave a brief summary of the Elks mission and programs. Ed Przybysz, Secretary of the Lodge and host made guests aware of the many activities that are open to members and the community. Donna Colbert from the District Attorney’s office gave a brief overview of the Check Enforcement Program and answered individual questions.
